Cybersecurity expert Jim Stickley has a scary message for credit unions: One human error can compromise your systems, negating the thousands of dollars and hours you invest in information security.
“Everything I talk about today is kind of a bummer,” Stickley said in a keynote address Tuesday at the CUNA CFO Council Conference in New Orleans. “The best I can do is make you aware so you understand the risk.”
The risks will increase as mobile technology becomes more widespread, says Stickley, CEO of Stickley on Security, a CUNA alliance partner.
Although there’s no “silver bullet” to protect your credit union, educating members and staff about the severity and consequences of cybersecurity attacks is the best weapon to combat fraudsters, Stickley said.
