MARLBOROUGH, Mass. (6/3/15)--As part of a tour of North American credit unions, representatives from Sicredi Alianca, a financial cooperative group based out of Brazil, visited the Cooperative Credit Union Association in Marlborough, Mass., this week.
The group was joined by representatives of the World Council of Credit Unions.
After visiting a number of credit unions in Canada, the association hosted the 32 delegates at its offices to provide them an overview of the league and how it supports member credit unions throughout Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island (Daily CU Scan June 2).
The group also received a presentation from Mary Ann Clancy, association senior vice president/general counsel, who spoke about the importance of advocacy efforts in legislative and regulatory affairs at both the state and federal levels.
Mike Ostrowski, president/CEO, Arrha CU, Springfield, Mass., then explained how governance worked at his credit union, and described the challenges Arrha faces in meeting the needs of its members.
Later in the day, the delegation boarded a bus and traveled to Metro CU, Chelsea, Mass., for a tour of the credit union. The group also visited Navigant FCU, Smithfield, R.I.
