PHILADELPHIA (6/5/15)--American Heritage FCU, Philadelphia, served as the last stop on a nine-hearing Pennsylvania-wide business and jobs tour Thursday.
The hearing was hosted by Rep. Kerry Benninghoff (R-Centre), chair of the House Majority Policy Committee, and Rep. Martina White (R-Philadelphia) (Life is a Highway June 4).
The lawmakers used the tour to discuss the state’s economy and its business climate with employers from across Pennsylvania. John Giordano, president/CEO, First Heritage Financial LLC, American Heritage FCU’s credit union service organization, testified on behalf of the state’s credit unions and the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association (PCUA).
Giordano, who was joined by representatives from the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry, National Federation of Independent Business, and Pennsylvania Manufacturers Association, spoke about the strength and demographics of the state’s credit union movement.
He also addressed the movement’s strong operating results from 2014 and the positive economic outlook for 2015, in addition to the challenges facing the industry.
“We are very pleased that the House policy committee recognizes the economic development value that Pennsylvania’s credit unions provide to consumers and small businesses,” said Christina Mihalik, PCUA vice president of governmental affairs (Life is a Highway).
