KANSAS CITY, Mo. (6/11/15)--In this case, one’s a crowd and two’s a party.
The Kansas Credit Union Association (KCUA) and the Nebraska Credit Union League held a joint annual meeting and convention last week in Kansas City, Mo., where KCUA celebrated 80 years of service to the state’s credit union movement.
More than 300 credit union staff and volunteers, in addition to league staff and vendors, attended the event, which ran from June 4-6.
Both leagues held board elections during the event, with the KCUA board re-electing Don Homan, board chair, Frontier Community CU, Leavenworth, Kan., as chair; John Beverlin, president/CEO, Mainstreet CU, Lenexa, Kan., as vice chair; and Vickie Hurt, president/CEO, Quest CU, Topeka, Kan., as secretary/treasurer.
Erich Schaefer, member president, Golden Plains CU, Garden City, Kan., was elected to a three-year term on the board. The KCUA board also includes:
The Nebraska board elected Stan Fraser, president/CEO, Nebraska Energy FCU, Columbus, Neb., as chair; Jerry Barnett, president/CEO, LincOne FCU, Lincoln, Neb., as vice chair; and Peg Niedbalski, vice president, Columbus United FCU, as second vice chair.

The KCUA recognized LaRae Kraemer, president/CEO, Kansas State University FCU, Manhattan, Kan., as the Henry Peterson Professional of the Year, and Ryan Ausmus of the Credit Union of Dodge City, as the John Michener Volunteer of the Year.
The Nebraska league honored Sharon Hammond, longtime board member at Spirit of America FCU, Lincoln, with its Volunteer Distinguished Service Award.
