ROANOKE, Va. (6/19/15)--Member One FCU was awarded the Community Partner of the Year Award from the Community Youth Program (CYP), a local nonprofit providing programs for at-risk youth in Roanoke, Va.
Member One FCU participates in programs and events such as CYP family nights during which credit union employees help students and families open youth accounts. Member One sponsored a winter coat-and-shoe drive that offered children the opportunity to pick out an item from their Christmas list. It also works with CYP kids on Junior Achievement curriculum.
The credit union further supports the organization’s mission by providing sponsorship funds for CYP events.
“To top it all off, you all are so patient with our students when we bring them to the (Member One FCU) main branch and show them how to properly make a deposit into their savings account,” said LeeAnn Reich, CYP executive director. “We value our relationship with Member One so much.”
CYP’s mission is to encourage learning and the development of a positive self-image and to provide a network of support for students and their families. The organization and its participants encourage students to become involved in their community. Participants take part in service projects throughout the Roanoke valley.
Member One has been a partner of CYP for the past three years and has become one of CYP’s most active community partners.
