AUSTIN, Texas (7/16/15)--A+ Education Foundation, the charitable arm of A+ FCU, Austin, Texas, has awarded $72,000 in grants to 76 teachers in Central Texas this year as part of its 2015 Educator Grant Program.
Over the last decade, the foundation has granted more than $600,000 to 653 educators who inspire student learning through creative an innovative programs.
This year, submissions included projects that:
“Since its inception 10 years ago, the foundation has provided grants to educators for programs that enhance their teaching and the students’ learning experience,” said Kerry A.S. Parker, foundation president. “Although it’s remarkable to see how technology has influenced recent submissions, the goal of the educators has remained the same, to encourage student learning through hands-on, interactive experiences.”
Jennifer Atkinson, who teaches at an elementary school in Austin, also received the foundation’s 10th Anniversary Grant for a project she submitted that helps struggling readers and students with dyslexia improve their reading proficiency through a “Reader Theater.”
Jessica Cheyney, who teaches at an elementary school in Round Rock, Texas, was honored with the Kate Loftis Memorial Education Grant.
