WASHINGTON (7/20/15)--National Credit Union Administration Chair Debbie Matz will testify before the House Financial Services subcommittee on financial institutions and consumer credit Friday.
An NCUA spokesperson told News Now that Matz will discuss the NCUA’s budget and operations, as well as the performance of the credit union system at the hearing.
The hearing is scheduled to begin at 9:15 a.m. (ET) Friday and will be streamed live on the committee’s website.
The subcommittee is chaired by Rep. Randy Neugebauer (R-Texas), who, at an earlier hearing this year, questioned Larry Fazio, director of the NCUA’s Office of Examination and Insurance, about the agency's revised risk-based capital (RBC) proposal.
In addition, a number of legislators have shown interest in the NCUA’s RBC proposal in recent months, asking the agency for specifics and information on how it would affect their constituents.
The NCUA has previously expressed support for three pieces of regulatory relief legislation:
Other legislation involving the agency, such as a bill that would require budget hearings from the NCUA while constructing its annual operating budget, has been introduced this Congress.
