PORTLAND, Ore. (7/29/15)--Point West CU’s #DriveHope campaign asks its members and social media supporters a simple question in exchange for a donation to a local community organization that helps provide low-income families with affordable auto loan financing.
Every time someone posts an answer to the question “What drives you?” on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram with the #DriveHope hashtag, Point West will donate $5 to Metropolitan Family Services (MFS), up to a total of $2,500 (Anthem July 28).
Each entry earns the participant a chance to win a $250 gift card at the end of the campaign.
“As a certified Community Development Financial Institution, supporting like-minded organizations that are making a real impact in our community is part of our mission here at Point West,” said Amy Nelson, president/CEO of the Portland, Ore.-based credit union.
Through the Ways to Work program, MFS is able to provide low-cost vehicle financing to families so they have reliable transportation for work and are able to get their children to and from school or medical appointments.
“Without Ways to Work, families with limited incomes are only able to secure loans at 30% or more,” said Judy Strand, MFS CEO. “By offering a low-interest car loan in combination with financial mentoring, families are able to get a start in building assets and skills that lead to long-term economic security for themselves and their families.”
The #DriveHope campaign will run through Aug. 31.
