MADISON, Wis. (7/31/15)--In October 2014, Kmart announced it had detected a breach in its store payment data system. In December, a complaint was filed on behalf of financial institutions that suffered injury as the result of that breach.
Credit unions that believe they were injured by the breach may contact CUNA’s DataBreachLawsuit@cuna.coop address for further assistance.
The complaint alleges that Kmart failed to use adequate security measures to protect against breach techniques similar to those used in other recent retail data breaches.
Kmart claims that no personally identifiable information has been stolen.
