ALEXANDRIA, Va. (8/18/15)--Upcoming National Credit Union Administration webinars on internal controls and participation lending highlight the August edition of the agency’s FOCUS e-newsletter.
Published by the agency’s Office of Small Credit Union Initiatives (OSCUI), the August edition of the newsletter also highlights the recently awarded low-income credit union grants and the Internal Revenue Service’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.
The NCUA’s internal controls webinar, announced earlier this month, is scheduled for Wednesday. Focused on the accounting issues that can arise at small credit unions, NCUA staff will discuss these issues and strategies to ensure their effectiveness.
OSCUI’s next webinar will focus on participation lending, which are loans made by multiple lenders to a single borrower. The webinar will focus on how credit unions are using participation lending as a strategy for portfolio growth, as well as how to find lending partners suited for credit union success in the field.
Other upcoming webinars from OSCUI include: “Data Mining: Golden Nuggets for Your Marketing Campaign” (Oct. 21), “Auto Lending” (Nov. 18) and “Getting Started in Mortgage Lending” (Dec. 16). Registration for those webinars will be announced soon.
The NCUA has also archived its July 21 “Fine Tuning Your Compliance Program: Common Compliance Violations” webinar.
