BALTIMORE (8/20/15)--Rod Staatz, president/CEO of SECU and vice chair of CUNA, has received a Most Admired CEO Award from The Maryland Daily Record.
Staatz, who leads the Linthicum, Md.-based credit union, was honored in the category of nonprofits with more than $10 million in annual revenue.
The Daily Record covers Maryland business, legal and professional news. Its CEO Award honors business CEOs and nonprofit executive directors statewide who are admired for their leadership and professionalism. The award ceremony is Sept. 17.
“The Most Admired CEOs set the example for others to follow,” said publisher Suzanne Fischer-Huettner. “Their commitment to their businesses, employees and communities is exemplary.”
Staatz has led the largest credit union in Maryland for 12 years. He also spearheads SECU’s financial literacy efforts that include sponsoring three Millionaire’s Clubs, a high school financial literacy program, an annual state employee scholarship program and a partnership with the Maryland Coalition of Financial Literacy.
He previously served as chair of the Maryland-D.C. Credit Union Association and serves on the board of Card Services for Credit Unions. Staatz has spoken on behalf of credit unions regarding qualified mortgage standards with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
