Interest in debt collection rules sparks bigger FTC venue

September 8, 2015

DALLAS (9/8/15)--The Federal Trade Commission’s (FTC) debt collection dialogue scheduled for Sept. 29 in Dallas has be re-located and pre-registration has re-opened due to high demand. The agency previously closed registration Aug. 13 after pre-registration almost reached maximum capacity for the original venue.

The event will now be held at Southern Methodist University’s Dedman School of law. It is still scheduled for Sept. 29, and will begin at 1:30 p.m. (CT).

The agenda, which was announced last month, will remain the same. Representatives from the FTC, law enforcement agencies and the debt collection industry will discuss enforcement actions, consumer complaints, compliance issues, industry best practices and how regulatory enforcement actions are investigated and pursued.

The FTC announced its debt collection dialogues in April. The first event was held in Buffalo, N.Y., Dallas is the second and a third is scheduled for Nov. 18 in Atlanta.
