WEST JORDAN, Utah (9/21/15)--Mountain America CU has teamed up with the Girl Scouts of Utah to promote financial awareness and to teach girls how to properly handle money.
Through the program, Girl Scouts who fulfill certain requirements can bring completed patch forms to the Salt Lake City Girls Scout Shop to receive a free patch from Mountain America.
The West Jordan, Utah-based credit union’s “Financial Dreams Patch” is available to Girl Scouts of all ages.
"Financial education needs to begin at an early age, and should be an ongoing process," said Sharon Cook, Mountain America chief marketing officer. "The Financial Literacy Patch Program allows the girls to learn about budgeting, saving, how credit works, and how to manage savings and checking accounts--basic skills that provide a solid foundation for managing money.”
Cook said the league is pleased to take part in nurturing “a desire to learn about financial matters, incorporate sound principles, and set girls on a straight path to achieving their financial dreams."
