SALT LAKE CITY (10/1/15)--Credit unions have 14 days to sign up for “Shop for Miracles,” an event through which credit union members can raise funds for Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) Hospitals simply by making a purchase with a debit or credit card.
Through the event, which falls on International Credit Union Day Oct. 15, each time a credit union member uses a credit union-issued credit or debit card, the participating credit union donates 25 cents or a different pre-determined amount to its local CMN Hospital.
The funds raised will support healthcare services, critical treatments, pediatric medical equipment and charitable care for sick children nationwide.
So far, 75 credit unions representing 29 states have signed up for the event.
“The Shop for Miracles program is a great example of credit unions coming together to support their local community,” said John Lauck, CMN Hospitals president/CEO. “We are grateful to the credit unions who take part in this program and the countless miracles they help make happen for sick and injured kids treated across the country at CMN Hospitals.”
In 2014, more than 100 credit unions participated in the event, raising roughly $450,000 in addition to $50,000 in matching funds provided by CO-OP Financial Services. Credit unions can register at www.cu4kids.org/shopformiracles.
Credit unions have raised more than $150 million for CMN Hospitals since the Credit Unions for Kids brand was created in 1996.
