ANN ARBOR, Mich. (10/13/15)--Today’s CU Lunch Local event is serving up small business support with a side of credit union community philosophy in celebration of International Credit Union Day.
Michigan-based consulting firm Michigan Business Connection launched CU Lunch Local in 2012. The event, tagged #CULunchLocal on social media, encourages employees of credit unions and credit union organizations to patronize local restaurants to boost the local economy.
Credit union leagues from Delaware, Louisiana, Michigan, North Dakota, South Dakota, North Carolina and South Carolina have committed their support this year. The Louisiana Credit Union League is devoting the entire week to CU Lunch Local events in honor of International Credit Union Day, which is Thursday.
Some credit unions are including local vendors as well as restaurants. Members of Champion CU, Canton, N.C., can take advantage of discounts at local businesses and visit a tasting session featuring local eateries.
United Educational CU, Battle Creek, Mich., is offering coupons to local restaurants in Battle Creek, Albion and Coldwater, with additional deals for alumni of Kellogg Community College.
