MERIDEN, Conn. (11/4/15)--During International Credit Union Month, the Credit Union League of Connecticut helped the Cooperative Credit Union League of Trinidad and Tobago hold its first National Financial Reality Fair.
The league has a partnership with Trinidad and Tobago credit unions. Although the Connecticut Financial Reality Fair Foundation shared the financial simulation model with them in 2013, this year was the first national event.
Kathy Chartier, president/CEO, Members CU, Cos Cob, Conn., and Carol Bayreuther, president/CEO, Hartford (Conn.) Healthcare FCU, were on hand for this year’s reality fair (Weekly Update Nov. 3).
Deborah Thomas-Felix, president of the Industrial Court of Trinidad and Tobago, was the featured speaker. She advised the audience of secondary-school students from East Trinidad that they should save wisely, invest, set financial goals and develop a budget (Newsday Oct. 14).
Chartier and Bayreuther also visited credit unions in Trinidad, including Members CU's partner Neal and Massy CU. They also attended two credit union-sponsored health fairs and the Trinidad and Tobago league’s award celebration.
