CUPERTINO, Calif. (11/5/15)--Nearly half of the latest financial institutions to support Apple Pay are credit unions. Apple announced 54 more credit unions and banks have joined the system, bringing the total number of issuing financial institutions to more than 650.
The additional signers come just ahead of Apple Pay’s year-end launch in Australia and Canada through its partnership with American Express (Apple Insider Nov. 3). Apple Pay is expected to be introduced in Hong Kong, Singapore and Spain next year.
Kohl's also recently announced it is supporting Apple Pay, making it the first store-branded credit card to join the payments system.
