ALEXANDRIA, Va. (12/1/15)--Three new consumer-facing videos are now available on the National Credit Union Administration's YouTube Channel; each one intended to make it easier for credit union members to understand federal share insurance.
The videos are part of the NCUA’s Consumer Report series and were developed by its Office of Consumer Protection. The videos include a Share Insurance Coverage Overview, How to Use NCUA’s Share Insurance Estimator and Account Ownership Types.
Announcing the new tool, NCUA Chair Debbie Matz reminded that no member of a federally insured credit union has ever lost a penny insured by NCUA. "I urge credit unions to make their members aware of these videos or to download them and share them on their own websites,” she said.
The videos are also housed within the NCUA’s new Share Insurance Toolkit for Consumers located on MyCreditUnion.gov. They join a range of resources that can help consumers better understand National Credit Union Share Insurance coverage of their deposits at federally insured credit unions.
The resources include the Share Insurance Estimator, which is the subject of one of the newest videos.
The NCUA suggests that federally insured credit unions interested in using the consumer resources to promote National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund awareness can embed the links on their websites for viewing by members.
