HONOLULU (2/4/16)--The Hawaii Credit Union League reported the state’s credit unions are outpacing the “5 in 5” goal to raise $500,000 in five years for the Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children. Total fundraising numbers released in January show $135,728 raised, bringing the league’s two-year amount to $307,225. Once Hawaii's Credit Unions for Kids reaches the $1 million mark in total, it will have the privilege of naming the rehabilitation area of the new hospital wing after Hawaii’s Credit Unions for Kids ...

SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (2/4/16)--In its fifth year as a Youth Development Community Partner to the Greater Burlington YMCA, NorthCountry FCU recently donated $100,000 to the Y, bringing its total financial support to $500,000. The South Burlington, Vt.-based credit union also supports the YMCA with a fun run and holiday giving tree. The funds help underwrite early education, after-school programs, summer camps, youth swimming and special events at the Y throughout the year. “The Y has no better neighbor--no stronger community partner--in reaching this goal than NorthCountry FCU Union and their members,” said Pam Mackenzie, Greater Burlington YMCA interim president/CEO (Vermont Business Magazine Feb. 3) ...

MADISON, Wis. (2/4/16)--More executive level changes have been announced by credit unions. Tech CU, San Jose, Calif., said Wednesday that President/CEO Barbara Kamm will retire in May. The board appointed Todd Harris, current chief financial officer/chief administrative officer, as Kamm’s successor, effective May 16. Kamm will remain on the board of directors. Carlene Scillian, executive vice president of Signet FCU, Paducah, Ky., has succeeded Alan Butler as president/CEO (By the Way Feb. 1). Butler retired Jan. 4 after 40 years at the credit union. After 26 years as president/CEO of Smart Financial CU, Gary Tuma retired from the Houston-based credit union. Chief Lending Officer Larry Seidl was appointed as his successor. Credit Union Loan Source, a credit union service organization based in College Park, Ga., announced William Moniz will replace CEO Ralph Jones. Jones, who has been at the auto loan originator and servicer since 2004, will officially retire in April ...
