WASHINGTON (2/10/16)--Just 52 days left until runners--both elite and beginners--take their first steps for the 44th annual Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run.
The Washington, D.C., event on April 3 is part of the collaboration of races known as the Credit Union Miracle Day (CUMD) Family of Races that support Children's Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH) nationwide. The Credit Union SacTown Ten Mile Run will be in Sacramento‚ Calif., and the Credit Union Freedom Ten Mile Run will be in Wiesbaden‚ Germany, and Camp Arifjan‚ Kuwait.
The event requires more than 1,400 volunteers, and staff of the Credit Union National Association always are on hand during race day.
Members of Congress also are signing on to be honorary race chairs.
The Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run is a member of the 2015-2016 Professional Road Running Organization circuit.
It includes a 5K walk/run and a 1/2-mile run for kids age 5-12.
For the ninth consecutive year, PSCU has pledged to underwrite title sponsorship expenses, meaning that money raised through credit union donations will solely support CMNH research and medical care.
“The Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run is the perfect opportunity to increase awareness on Capitol Hill about the dedication that credit unions demonstrate to help their local communities thrive,” said Chuck Fagan, president/CEO of the St. Petersburg, Fla.-based credit union service organization.
