The Center for Excellence for Consumer Decision Making is the first of five Centers of Excellence that Filene will launch between now and 2017. It will research consumer money behaviors and emerging societal trends associated with financial decisions. Hope Schau, associate dean of Eller MBA Programs and marketing professor at the University of Arizona, will lead the center.
"Credit unions are an indisputable force for good in the lives of millions of Americans," said Robert N. Trunzo, president/CEO of CUNA Mutual Group. "This research will provide valuable insights to help build the credit union movement for the future."
World-class academic thinkers from across North America will lead Filene’s new Centers of Excellence, which will produce unique research and engagement opportunities for Filene members and the credit union movement. The centers are designed to address the changing needs of credit unions and their members and will explore critical and emerging topics regarding the future of consumer financial trends to encourage credit unions to think differently and change people’s lives.
"The rapidly changing market means the credit union system of the future will not look the same," Filene CEO Mark Meyer said. "And those credit unions need the kind of research, analysis, and insights that come from Filene’s Centers of Excellence."
The Center of Excellence for Consumer Decision Making will focus on three areas:
Other Centers of Excellence launched in the next two years will focus on organizational innovation and entrepreneurship; emerging technology; performance and operational excellence; and war for talent.
