EDEN, N.C. (3/3/16)--Piedmont Advantage CU is holding financial “crisis management” sessions for the 520 employees who face unemployment with the impending closure of the MillerCoors plant in Eden, N.C.
“We are trying to attract a population of MillerCoors employees out to visit to talk about their financial affairs. Most of the people we have invited are existing members of our credit union,” said Lin Spears, branch and community development manager for the Winston Salem, N.C.-based credit union (Greensboro News & Record Feb. 29).
The international brewing company announced last year it would close the plant in late 2016.
The sessions advise attendees about various ways to budget, consolidate loans and act efficiently in a financial emergency.
Chief Marketing Officer Linda Garboczi said the meetings are a way to let the people know the credit union cares about the community.
“Whatever we can do to let our members, other employees and people in the community know that we are here to help,” she told the Greensboro News & Record.
