Credit unions were named the second most-trusted companies by consumers across 20 industries in the 2016 Temkin Trust Ratings.
Notably, credit unions also outperformed their industry average by more than 15 percentage points. Credit unions boasted a 70% trust rating, while the banking industry had an overall rating of just more than 50%.
For the second straight year, USAA took the top two spots under banking and insurance categories.
Citibank was at the bottom of the banking industry with a 33% trust rating.
The next highest-scoring companies were Publix, Mercedes-Benz, USAA for its credit cards, Chick-fil-A, Amazon.com, Residence Inn, H-E-B, Lexus, and BJ's Wholesale Club.
