The credit union industry’s top human resources professionals were honored during the CUNA HR & Organizational Development Council Conference last week in Orlando, Fla.
The Professional of the Year Award was presented to Suzanne Oliver, senior vice president of talent and member development/governmental affairs, Mountain America CU, West Jordan, Utah.
“It was a really tough choice between all the stellar nominees, but in the end, Ms. Oliver’s history, attitude and accomplishments clearly shone the brightest,” said Jennifer Huggard, awards committee chair and Northwest Credit Union Association vice president of administration.
Ten credit unions were honored with nine Excellence Awards, including one Best of Show, during the conference. The awards go to credit unions that exemplify excellence in human resources and organizational development while promoting credit union philosophies through people leadership.
The CUNA HR & Organizational Development Council also announced its 2016 executive committee.
Lisa Baron, senior vice president of human resources and talent management, Baxter CU, Vernon Hills, Ill., was appointed chair of the executive committee. Buddy Bennett, director of human resources and training, Cyprus FCU, West Jordan, Utah, will serve as vice chair. Jackie Henderson, vice president of human resources, Rivermark Community CU, has also joined as an executive committee member.
Robert Davis, senior vice president of human resources, VyStar CU, Jacksonville, Fla., completed his term as chair but will remain on the executive committee for one additional year. Newly elected to the executive committee was Peter Stein, senior vice president of human resources, Educators CU, Mount Pleasant, Wis.
