Compete to be the best

'Competition serves to enhance skills, abilities, and performance.'

He won’t settle for anything that’s less than the best.

Randy Trimm’s exceptional work as president/CEO of $163 million asset Great River Federal Credit Union in St. Cloud, Minn., exemplifies that.

Trimm, who has more than 33 years of professional experience, doesn’t shy away from a challenge.

“I love to compete,” he says. “Competition serves to enhance skills, abilities, and performance. I emulate the positive, winning traits that I see in others, and also learn from observing.”

His passion for the credit union industry and for serving others has manifested in several professional and personal achievements.

With the support of Great River’s executive team and many others, Trimm has led the way to upgrade Great River’s facilities and technological enhancements.

This includes a $1.4 million renovation of the St. Cloud offices, the launch of a “Cash Rewards Credit Card” program, implementation of new mortgage processing software, and installation of state-of-the-art ATMs.

“These initiatives were driven by our desire to do things first-class,” says Trimm. “As a member-driven organization, it’s important that we provide facilities that maximize confidentiality, ease of access, and the ability to transact business whether in person or electronically.

"Our team members also deserve to have tools at their disposal that enable them to effectively carry out their roles as ‘financial physicians.’”

When he’s not revolutionizing Great River, you can find Trimm supporting local organizations and charities, such as Catholic Charities, Circle of Hope, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Boys and Girls Club, and United Way.

“I believe that we all have a responsibility to help others,” Trimm says. “Helping others sustains hope. I believe that hope is at the center of people overcoming difficulties in their lives, and to be a small part of that is rewarding yet humbling.”
