CUNA counsel has provided updates for data breaches at Kmart and MAPCO. While CUNA is not involved as a plaintiff in these cases, some credit unions are among the financial institutions engaged in the litigation or may have potential claims against the retailers.
The Kmart breach was detected in October 2014 and could have affected the cards of anyone who shopped with a credit or debit card between September and Oct. 9, 2014.
The MAPCO breach is thought to involve credit and debit card transactions at MAPCO locations between March 19-25, April 14-15 and April 20-21 of 2013.
