Jim Nussle’s debut on Facebook Live brought a taste of the CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference to credit union advocates who couldn't venture to Washington, D.C., and proved a big success.

The video of the CUNA President/CEO’s opening speech at the GAC on Monday morning drew nearly 2,000 views in the first few hours after posting, according to Facebook statistics.

Nussle’s address marks the first time CUNA used Facebook Live—which instantly streams live video of events to users’ Facebook feeds—to broadcast one of its conferences.

During the 33-minute speech, available in recorded form on the CUNA Advocacy Facebook page, Nussle called for credit union leaders to become an advocacy army and tell their stories to lawmakers about how current one-size-fits-all regulations impact their credit unions and members.

Find more coverage of the conference at the CUNA News GAC page, and get live updates onTwitter via @CUNA, @newsnowlivewire, and @cumagazine, and by using the #CUNAGAC hashtag.
