In what was termed an “educational” meeting, Rep. Jody Hice (R-Ga.) visited Peach State FCU, Lawrencville, Ga., on Aug. 25.
“Congressman Hice had an opportunity to meet with our senior managers and many of our staff members, some of whom knew him,” said Marshall Boutwell, president/CEO of Peach State FCU. “I’m struck by Congressman’s Hice’s desire to learn about how credit union’s work and how they serve their communities. His whole focus was on learning how credit unions operate, and he’s genuine in that endeavor.”
Hice is in his second term serving Georgia’s 10th District. “He’s impressed with the scope of credit unions and our reach in the community,” Boutwell said. “I think he’s sensitive to our issues, including regulatory relief, and he’ll give us a fair hearing when we need it. That’s the value of these types of meetings.”
