CUNA is heavily engaged with 3 separate hearings this week regarding the Equifax data breach, as well as several other hearings in both chambers of Congress. CUNA is continuing to monitor potential effects of the breach, while announcing its intention to sue Equifax and conducting a call on potential credit union legal actions.
Former Equifax CEO and Chairman Richard Smith will testify before the House Energy and Commerce Committee (Tuesday, 10 a.m. (ET)), Senate Banking Committee (Wednesday, 10 a.m. (ET)) and House Financial Services Committee (Thursday, 9:15 a.m. ET)).
In addition, the Senate Judiciary subcommittee on privacy, technology and the law will conduct a hearing titled “Equifax: Continuing to Monitor Data Broker Security” Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. (ET).
