CUNA will be engaged in this week’s four-day markup of tax reform legislation, House consideration of a flood insurance bill and several hearings this week in Washington, D.C. The House introduced its tax reform bill last week, leaving the credit union tax status untouched.
The House Ways and Means Committee markup of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (H.R. 1) will begin Monday, and is expected to last four days. CUNA released its analysis of the bill Monday, examining provisions in the bill that are of interest to credit unions.
The full House is expected to vote on the bill next week. CUNA's analysis of H.R. 1 was released Monday.
CUNA also expects the Senate Finance Committee to release its own tax reform bill this week, with a markup next week and Senate floor consideration the week of Thanksgiving.
The House will also consider the 21st Century Flood Reform Act (H.R. 2874) this week, which change annual limits on premium increases for insurance obtained through the National Flood Insurance Program.
