Foundation announces 2018 board

The National Credit Union Foundation announced the election of its 2018 new board.

Elected to the board were:

  • Robert Cashman, president/CEO of Metro CU in Chelsea, Mass.;
  • Timothy Kovac, vice president and associate general counsel, business compliance and regulatory leader for legal operations, CUNA Mutual Group, Madison, Wis.;
  • Samantha Paxson, executive vice president and chief marketing and experience officer at CO-OP Financial Services, Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; and
  • Brett Thompson, president/CEO, Wisconsin Credit Union League, Madison, Wis.

Cashman was elected to the board seat recently vacated by Laida Garcia, president/CEO, floridacentral CU, Tampa, Fla.; Kovac was elected to the board seat recently vacated by Christopher Roe, senior vice president, corporate and legislative affairs, CUNA Mutual Group, Madison, Wis.; Paxson fills the seat that Sarah Bang, executive vice president of industry relations at CO-OP Financial Services, Rancho, Cucamonga, Calif. held before retiring last year; and Thompson was elected to the board seat recently vacated by Patrick La Pine, president/CEO of the League of Southeastern Credit Unions, Tallahassee, Fla.

Also, at the board meeting, the following were re-elected:

  • Bill Cheney, president/CEO of SchoolsFirst FCU, Santa Ana, Calif.;
  • David Mooney, president/CEO, Alliant CU, Chicago; and
  • John Sackett, board treasurer, Royal CU, Eau Claire, Wis.

The remaining members of the Foundation board are:

  • Jim Nussle, president/CEO CUNA,Washington, D.C., president;
  • Angela McCathran, president/CEO, People’s Trust FCU, Houston, chair;
  • Pat Wesenberg, president/CEO, Simplicity CU, Marshfield, Wis., vice chair;
  • Kathy Garner, president/CEO, Catalyst Corporate FCU, Plano, Texas, treasurer;
  • Courtney Moran, executive director, Cornerstone Credit Union Foundation, Plano, Texas, secretary;
  • Teresa Halleck, president/CEO, San Diego County CU, San Diego;
  • Larry Middleman, president/CEO, CU Business Group, LLC, Portland, Ore.;
  • Winona Nava, president/CEO, Guadalupe CU, Santa Fe, N.M.;
  • Jeff York, president/CEO, CoastHills CU, Lompoc, Calif.; and
  • Carlyn Roy, president/CEO, TAPCO CU, Fircrest, Wash.
