Impressions of CUNA’s Facebook ads in support of the Senate’s bipartisan regulatory relief bill total more than 800,000 as CUNA continues its push for floor consideration of the bill. CUNA strongly supports the Economic Growth, Regulatory Reform and Consumer Protection bill (S. 2155) and launched the second phase of its nationwide grassroots push in mid-January.
“This bill would do a lot of good for consumers, and part of our grassroots support effort is to get the word out to as wide an audience as possible,” said CUNA Chief Political Officer Richard Gose. “It’s not often these days we see both sides willing to reach across the aisle and compromise on a piece of legislation like this. It’s incumbent on us to take advantage of this momentum. CUNA is laser focused on moving this bill past the finish line utilizing our 360-degree advocacy approach, and campaigns like this are part of those efforts.”
It contains a credit union-specific provision to exempt one-to-four unit, non-owner occupied residential loans from a credit union’s member business lending cap, freeing up to as much as $4 billion in additional capital.
