Hike the Hill lights up social media

Credit union delegates from New Mexico take part in "Hike the Hill," meeting with federal legislators during the CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference.

An “Advocacy Army” of CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference attendees descended on Capitol Hill on Wednesday to tell the credit union story to national lawmakers.

On the top of their priority list was the easing the regulatory burden for small financial institutions and protecting the credit union tax status.

Hike the Hill is an annual GAC tradition, and a vital credit union responsibility. Credit union leaders meet with lawmakers from their respective states to communicate legislative priorities and build on already strong relationships with Washington legislators.

Wednesday’s Hike followed a week in which GAC attendees heard a slate of speakers that included former President George W. Bush and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Acting Director Mick Mulvaney.

Here’s a social media rundown of this week's action on the Hill.

How could #WeAreOCUL top the great week Ohio’s credit unions have had propelling the #CUmovement forward at #CUNAGAC? A tour of the historic East Wing of the #WhiteHouse is a great start before heading off to Capitol Hill. #LeagueForYou #BetterTogether #AdvocacyInAction
