Debbie Painter has been named the new president of the Kentucky Credit Union League, effective Jan. 1, 2019.
Painter currently serves as the league’s executive vice president.
“Debbie has been an integral part of the League’s success and we are thrilled to promote her to this position,” said Karen Harbin, Kentucky Credit Union League board chair. “She is not only a visionary leader and strategic thinker, but her strong business acumen and outstanding relationship skills, distinguish Debbie as a dynamic leader. The board of the Kentucky Credit Union League could not be more pleased and supportive to have Debbie at the helm as she leads us in to the next phase of our growth and success.”
Painter began her career with credit unions in 1979 at Fort Knox FCU, Radcliff, Ky. She will succeed Wendell Lyons, who will retire at the end of 2018 after more than 30 years at the league.
“I am so humbled and honored to be named the next president/CEO of the Kentucky Credit Union League,” said Painter. “We have tremendous opportunities ahead, and I am excited to help lead our credit unions forward and to assist in their growth and success.”
Lyons has been the Kentucky Credit Union League president/CEO for 18 years. He previously served as the league’s director of governmental affairs. Lyons served as the chair of the American Association of Credit Union Leagues from 2013 to 2014 and was recently inducted into the Credit Union House Hall of Leaders.
“I would like to congratulate Debbie on her appointment as the next president/CEO of the Kentucky Credit Union League,” Lyons said. “As my right-hand executive for the past 18 years, I can say without reservation that Debbie will be a tireless advocate for Kentucky’s credit unions in both the Commonwealth and Washington, D.C.”
