Eighty-seven credit union professionals earned the Certified Credit Union Internal Auditor (CCUIA) designation at the CUNA & ACUIA Internal Audit Certification School last month in Dallas.
The event was jointly hosted by CUNA and the Association of Credit Union Internal Auditors.
“The information, skills and processes I learned and the peer connections I made will have an invaluable impact on the design and implementation of our program,” said Michele Grimaldo, regulatory compliance specialist at Malheur FCU, Ontario, Ore. “I anticipate the result will be a more effective, efficient program that will be a solid foundation for MFCU to grow with and build upon.”
The school features in-depth sessions led by auditing experts, providing a comprehensive education on core auditing concepts, procedures and best practices. Topics addressed include internal controls, risk assessment, financial management and communications. Upon completing the program, attendees are able to test for the CCUIA designation onsite.
The next CUNA & ACUIA Internal Audit Certification Schools will be held October 8-11, 2018 in Tempe, Ariz., and March 25-28 in Atlanta.
