Washington, D.C. (June 12, 2018) – This week credit unions are showing support for favorable candidates in Tuesday's primary elections. With races in Maine, Nevada, North Dakota, South Carolina and Virginia, the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) is closely tracking Rep. Mark Amodei's (R-Nev.) primary race against former state Sen. Sharron Angle.
CUNA and the Nevada Credit Union League partnered together to distribute partisan communications to over 15,000 credit union households. Last year Amodei and Rep. Pete Aguilar (D-Calif.) offered an amendment to legislation (H.R. 3354) that would withhold NCUA from the appropriation process. CUNA opposes placing NCUA under appropriations as it would amount to a tax on credit unions and their members.
This year at CUNA's Annual Governmental Conference, Amodei and Aguilar hosted a discussion on the huge victory for credit unions by keeping the NCUA from being placed under appropriations.
