Bellco Credit Union went above and beyond for employees after a recent dramatic hailstorm.
The weather event wreaked havoc on people and businesses in the south Denver metro area. The hail dented and blew out the windows of numerous vehicles—including those of employees at the $4.66 billion asset institution's Greenwood Village corporate office.
“We were all just looking out the windows from our office and we felt helpless watching the front row of cars just get hammered,” says Bellco employee Britany Hass-Ramos.
Noting the unique situation and the significant number of affected employees, Bellco’s leadership team stepped up. The credit union offered to contribute to employee’s car insurance deductibles up to $250 per employee.
“It just made sense for us to help our employees as they help our members every day,” says LeeAnn Downey, Bellco’s senior vice president and chief administrative officer.
Bellco’s good deed did not go unnoticed.
A local CBS television affiliate picked up the ‘people helping people’ story.
