CUNA’s Nussle, Eurgubian talk BCFP RFIs at bureau roundtable

July 13, 2018

CUNA President/CEO Jim Nussle and Deputy Chief Advocacy Officer Elizabeth Eurgubian attended roundtable discussion Thursday with Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection Acting Director Mick Mulvaney. The roundtable featured discussion of several of the bureau’s recent requests for information about how it performs its functions.

“We thank Acting Director Mulvaney and bureau staff for fostering this discussion about important bureau activities, including supervisory and rulemaking processes,” Nussle said. “We were able to reiterate points we’ve made in our submitted comments, and we appreciated feedback from the bureau. We look forward to continuing our engagement to achieve much-needed credit union regulatory relief from the bureau.”

The discussion focused on bureau RFIs on supervisory, enforcement and rulemaking processes; regulations; complaint handling and external engagement.

CUNA submitted copies of its comprehensive white paper to the bureau in response to several RFIs, and submitted individual comment letters for others.

Comments on the final bureau RFI in this series, on the consumer complaint and inquiry process, is due July 16.
