Two credit union-friendly candidates won their primary elections Thursday in Tennessee. Both candidates are supported by the Tennessee Credit Union League and the Credit Union Legislative Action Council, CUNA’s political action committee.
In the 2nd Congressional District, Republican Tim Burchett finished first out of seven candidates with 48% of the vote. Burchett, the mayor of Knox County, is vying for the seat currently held by retiring Rep. John Duncan (R).
In the 7th Congressional District, Republican Mark Green, a state senator, ran unopposed in the primary. November’s election will decide who replaces Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R), who is running for Senate.
