Partial funding for the federal government ran out as members of Congress were unable to pass legislation for funding past Dec. 21. NCUA will continue to operate through the shutdown, as it is not funded through the appropriations process.
“Operations at the two primary credit union regulators, NCUA and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, are not materially affected by the shutdown at the moment,” said Ryan Donovan, CUNA Chief Advocacy Officer. “CUNA is actively engaged with legislators and other policymakers as the situation evolves, and we hope to see this resolved as soon as today. CUNA will keep stakeholders informed as to the latest developments, and we urge credit unions who are assisting members during the shutdown to share their stories with us."
