FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 12, 2019
Washington, DC
Jim Nussle, CUNA president/CEO, released the following statement after Senator Jon Tester (D-MT) spoke at the 2019 Credit Union National Association Governmental Affairs Conference (CUNA GAC):
“We thank Senator John Tester for acknowledging the role credit unions play in the financial infrastructure,” said CUNA President/CEO Jim Nussle. “Credit unions understand the values of rural America. Families in Montana can depend on the resources of their local credit union to get the funds they need to maintain their homes, businesses and communities.”
Senator Jon Tester (D-MT) praised credit unions for being “one of the big reasons” the Economic, Growth and Regulatory Relief Act (S. 2155) was able to get passed last Congress. The Montana Senator was one of the authors of the authors of the bill, declaring that one-size-fits-all regulations were hurting community-based financial institutions and consumers.
