Attendees at the America’s Credit Union Conference at the Walt Disney World® Resort in Florida last week were reminded to use their “cooperative superpowers.”
The credit union movement is under attack and those in the industry need to stay on offense in 2019 and continue to spread awareness about what makes credit unions different, CUNA President/CEO Jim Nussle said during an opening address. He also announced three more states are rolling out the Open Your Eyes to a Credit Union® campaign.
Breakout sessions focused on the digital member experience, how to stop financial exploitation and keep senior citizens safe, what to do if there’s an active shooter incident, the latest cybersecurity threats and trends, how to bring data-centricity to the credit union, the digital trends shaping the financial sector, resources for small credit unions, and discussions with CEOs.
Wednesday's highlights included CUNA Board Chair and Redwood Credit Union President/CEO Brett Martinez, Disney Institute's Jeff James, an update on the Open Your Eyes to a Credit Union® campaign, and an afternoon at Epcot for an experiential learning session.
The conference concluded with an economic update from two CUNA economists, and an inspiring presentation by artist Phil Hansen, who encouraged attendees to "think inside the box" and embrace their limitations as opportunities for creativity.
