Desert Valleys FCU offers short-term earthquake recovery loans

July 11, 2019

Desert Valleys FCU, Ridgecrest, Calif, is headquartered at the epicenter of the region affected by last week’s earthquakes and announced $1 million commitment to supporting the families affected by the Independence Day Earthquakes which shook the Searles and Indian Wells Valley communities.

Starting July 8 and running through July 12 Desert Valleys will providing short-term loans of up $1,000. The loans will have a 90-day repayment option and low interest rate to allow members the chance to apply for assistance programs or insurance support.

Desert Valleys can provide up to 1,000 loans to the community as demand requires.

“Getting emergency funds into the hands of people in need is our focus” said Desert Valleys CEO Eric Bruen. “People are replacing food, medical supplies, and other necessities as quickly as possible. When combined with the possibility of being without work for a few days, we want to provide at least a financial piece of mind to our community”.

To help assist those members in the Trona community, the credit union mobile branch will be deployed throughout the week to provide assistance.

Desert Valleys Senior Vice President Dana Griffin will be heading up a supplies and donation effort through the week as well.

“Our Mobile Branch gives us the opportunity to bring critically needed supplies every day to the community” said Griffin.
