With the House and Senate both officially adjourned for their August recess in-district work period, now is the time to connect with legislators and continue advocacy momentum, said CUNA Chief Advocacy Officer Ryan Donovan. CUNA has prepared a document outlining the numerous ways credit unions can engage with policymakers this August.
Donovan urges credit unions to engage with lawmakers on three key priorities during August that demonstrate the credit union difference.
CUNA’s resource document contains step-by-step information on multiple ways credit unions can engage with lawmakers in August, talking points on each of the issue and how it plays into the credit union difference and pre- and post-meeting checklists to ensure a successful visit that allows for regular contact with staff down the road.
It also features contact information for CUNA legislative, political affairs, grassroots and communications staff.
Donovan also reminds credit unions to reach out to their individuals leagues, as many have meetings or other events with legislators in the works for August.
