The Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) laws can sometimes be a double-edged sword.
On one hand, its intended purpose—to prevent serious crimes including fraud, money laundering and even human trafficking, is critical. On the other, with regulatory scrutiny falling even on credit unions unwittingly connected with these activities, it can sometimes feel like your organization might take the fall for something you couldn’t prevent.
That’s a lot of pressure for anyone. Staying vigilant for these illicit activities is the right thing to do, the smart thing to do and unfortunately, often the hard thing to do.
The good news is, the spirit of collaboration that drives the credit union movement forward extends to these regulatory issues. Industry experts are constantly working to help credit unions stay ahead, and together with CUNA and NASCUS, they’re able to share their conclusions with professionals across the country.
CUNA BSA/AML Certification Conference with NASCUS features cutting-edge content from vetted speakers with expertise in credit unions, BSA regulations and BSA crimes.
