LSCU, Georgia Credit Union League officially complete consolidation

September 3, 2019

The League of Southeastern Credit Unions & Affiliates (LSCU & Affiliates) and the Georgia Credit Union League (GCUL) have legally closed on their strategic consolidation, officially combining the two leagues and their affiliated companies into an expanded League of Southeastern Credit Unions & Affiliates.

The reconstituted LSCU & Affiliates will offer an enhanced portfolio of products and services to 342 credit unions in Alabama, Florida and Georgia.

Mike Mercer, formerly president/CEO of Georgia Credit Union Affiliates, will become the CEO of LSCU & Affiliates, providing leadership for the association services side of the organization. LSCU & Affiliates will focus on expanded advocacy efforts, projecting greater influence on behalf of credit unions at the state and national levels.

Patrick La Pine, formerly president/CEO of LSCU & Affiliates, will head up business services as the CEO of a new holding company, Affiliates Consolidated Services (ACS). ACS will include LEVERAGE, the LSCU service corporation and business services currently offered through the Georgia Credit Union Service Corporation and CSI. He will also lead all shared services (back office) functions for the reconstituted LSCU & Affiliates.

“We’re excited to move forward together as one entity to provide enhanced value to our member credit unions in Alabama, Florida and Georgia in both association services and business services in the years ahead,” Mercer said. “Our combined staff is focused on ways to assist credit unions in achieving their goals and finding ways to exceed their members’ expectations.”

Employees working under the new consolidated league and business services structure will be laser focused on their areas of expertise and will be working to provide service and value to all member/client credit unions in Alabama, Florida and Georgia.

“A year ago, we came into this process asking how we could make our two organizations better together than we were apart. We wanted to know if we could achieve one-plus-one to create three,” La Pine said. “Now, we’ve successfully created that value equation. We have emerged as an enhanced LSCU & Affiliates, prepared to address the unique needs of our member/client credit unions from all three states and beyond.”
