Registration open for largest CU advocacy event of the year

September 18, 2019
2020GAC

More than 5,000 credit union leaders from across the country will converge to the Nation’s capital for the 2020 CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC). The premier industry event will take place Feb. 23-27 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. and registration is now open.

“Every day, credit unions work tirelessly to provide financial security and support to families and communities across the country,” said CUNA President/CEO Jim Nussle. “GAC is an opportunity for credit union advocates to come to Washington and share that important work with lawmakers, engage with other credit union leaders, and grow as a cooperative movement.”

Participants will hear from influential business and political thought leaders while exploring key advocacy topics that impact credit unions and their members. The conference will center around key advocacy priorities for credit unions including: preserving the tax status, combating bank attacks, protecting data privacy and security, securing regulatory relief and bolstering main street in good times and bad.

CUNA GAC also features:

  • Keynote sessions from leaders in business, media and politics;
  • Breakout sessions on important financial regulatory and advocacy topics;
  • The largest exhibit hall of any credit union event; and
  • Networking opportunities with fellow industry leaders.

Hill visits, coordinated together with the state credit union leagues, are at the heart of CUNA GAC. Credit union representatives from all 50 states visit Capitol Hill to meet with their representatives, start conversations on pivotal legislative and regulatory issues and remind them of the benefit credit unions have on their constituents’ lives.
