CU Kind Day impacts more than 20K across Illinois

Staff from NuMark CU, Joliet, Ill., volunteer at the Bridge Teen Center during its Drive Out Bullying initiative, part of credit union volunteer activities around the state for CU Kind Day, launched by the Illinois Credit Union League.

More than 60 Illinois credit unions participated in CU Kind Day Oct. 14, a day of service designed to put the credit union motto of “people helping people” into action. Launched by the Illinois Credit Union League, the day featured more than 2,400 credit union volunteers impacting more than 20,000 individuals throughout the state.

“I’m so proud to work in an industry that focuses on people over profits,” said Illinois Credit Union League President Tom Kane. “With credit unions, ‘people helping people’ is more than just a nice phrase, it’s the reason for everything we do. The CU Kind Day initiative is a demonstration of that mindset – it’s the credit union difference in action!”

DuPage CU, Naperville, Ill., stopped by local fire and police stations to deliver baskets of goodies and thank you cards. Their efforts, along with some of the other statewide efforts, were highlighted by Naperville Community Television.

Staley CU, Decatur, Ill., volunteered at HSHS St. John’s Hospital, where they took a tour, cleaned toys and provided lunch to patient families. Their efforts were picked up by WAND, a local TV station.

See below for social media activity documenting the statewide efforts for CU Kind Day.

Today LLCU took part in CU Kind Day! It was a great way to practice a little teamwork while helping others. We're happy to be a part of CU Kind day along with all the other Credit Unions that participated. #CUKindDay pic.twitter.com/d6oNBCL55p
