NCUA’s Hood to testify twice before Congress this week

Both chambers of Congress are in Washington, D.C. and CUNA will be engaged with NCUA Chairman Rodney Hood’s testimony before House and Senate committees and more this week. 

Hood will testify as part of federal regulators’ semi-annual testimony before financial committees in both chambers. He will testify before the House Financial Services Committee Wednesday at 10 a.m. (ET) and before the Senate Banking Committee Thursday at 10 a.m. (ET).

The House is expected to consider the Telephone Robocall Abuse Criminal Enforcement and Deterrence (TRACED) Act, a bill designed to combat robocall abuse. 

Other hearings this week include:

  • Wednesday, 10 a.m. (ET): Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee hearing, “Examining Legislative Proposals to Protect Consumer Data Privacy;”
  • Thursday, 10 a.m. (ET): House Financial Services Committee hearing, “Promoting Financial Stability? Reviewing the Administration’s Deregulatory Approach to Financial Stability,”
  • Thursday, 2 p.m. (ET): House Financial Services subcommittee on housing, community development and insurance hearing, “An examination of the Federal Housing Administration and its impact on Homeownership in America,”
  • Friday, 9:30 a.m. (ET): House Financial Services Committee Task Force on Artificial Intelligence hearing, “Robots on Wall Street: The Impact of AI on Capital Markets and Jobs in the Financial Services Industry.”
