CUs look forward to new year of member service, Donovan tells Congress

December 17, 2019

Credit unions around the country are looking ahead to the new year and how to continue investing in their communities’ success, CUNA Chief Advocacy Officer Ryan Donovan wrote to all 535 Congressional offices Tuesday. This latest communication, CUNA’s final of 2019, continues CUNA’s yearlong outreach to members of Congress highlighting the many ways credit unions make a difference in the lives of 115 million Americans each day.

“With their unique people-over-profit approach, credit unions are eager to find innovative ways of meeting their members' financial needs rather than enriching faceless investors,” Donovan wrote. “Whether it's helping survivors of domestic violence make a fresh start, coming together to wipe out medical debt, supporting families through the shutdown, or returning tens of millions of dollars in earnings to members, putting people over profit is at the very heart of the credit union mission and structure.”

Donovan added that credit unions “look forward to delivering that credit union difference to your constituents in the next decade and for many more to come.”
